The Wicked FR Ceramic bearings are extremely fast – yet surprisingly affordable.
By default, the bearings are packaged without shields, but 32 shields are included in the box. That way, you can decide for each bearing:
- to use no shield at all (for ultra-low weight),
- to use one shield on the outside, for partial dust protection (and easy inspection of the balls),
- or to use two shields for full dust protection.
(If you're not competing, we recommend using two shields per bearing.)
For the tech-savvy: these bearings contain 8 ceramic balls, and the steel parts have undergone a titanium treatment.
The bearings are named after two-time world champion Felix Rijhnen — hence the "FR" in the name.
The abbreviation "FR" in the title (Wicked FR Ceramic) may cause some confusion, as FR is also the name of the
well-known inline skate brand FR. However, that brand is not related to these bearings. The actual brand of the bearings is
Wicked.
As with all ceramic bearings, these offer low friction thanks to the ceramic balls — and especially so in this case, due to the special steel treatment. The bearings are durable and relatively lightweight.
They come without lubrication. (Some skaters prefer them dry; others like a little oil. If you do want lubrication, we recommend using one drop per bearing of
Rollerblade Dry Fluid Extreme.)
