The FR3 boot-only skate can be mounted on a wide range of frames – in fact, on all 165mm mounting frames.

If you’ve landed on this page by chance while browsing, you might be wondering why someone would buy an FR3 boot-only when, for a little more money, you could get a complete FR3 80 skate. But there are valid reasons — and if you’re actively looking for this boot, you probably know them.

For example, if you’ve purchased a niche frame and you’re looking for a matching boot, and you know you’ll never use the stock frame from the FR3 80, then the boot-only is definitely worth considering. In that case, that “little extra money” would actually be wasted.

Each boot comes with two mounting bolts (to attach your frame to the boot).

Strengths:

• This boot-only is compatible with all 165mm frames (e.g., most frames by Seba, FR, Flying Eagle, Rollerblade). Because the mounting plate (or power plate) has 7 holes, you can mount your 165mm frame(s) in different positions depending on your personal preference or specific needs. (By default, the center holes are used.)
• As we’ve come to expect from the FR range, this is a very comfortable boot.
• The black version is neutral and visually fits with everything. The other colours have great character and aesthetic appeal.
• The strong mounting plate allows this boot to be used even with 125mm wheel frames or SUV frames.

Weaknesses:

• A common issue with all boot-only options: the total price of boot + frame + wheels often ends up higher than buying a complete, equivalent skate.
• The black version lacks subtle colour accents. It’s just plain black — though the design is clean and tough-looking.

Thanks to the thick inner liner, this model fits both narrow and wide feet. Based on experience, we recommend choosing your usual shoe size, regardless of foot width.
